Abstract

Muhammadiyah has a religious framework to purify the faith by returning to the Al-Quran and as-Sunnah. Muhammadiyah realizes the need to complete the manhaj (methodology) of Islamic thought in Muhammadiyah. On the other hand, this is necessary, along with the intensity and scope of various life developments. Islamic thought includes everything related to the practical needs of religious life, discussion of public morality, and the reaction and anticipation of Islamic discourse on the development of human life. Islamic Studies should be practised in everyday life because the practice is related to the context of space, time and place. Therefore, local wisdom is needed and a complete understanding of the rules of fiqh. So that religious practices are constantly updated without having to leave anything in the Qur'an or as-Sunnah. Herein lies the importance of fully understanding maqasid al-shariah for developing Muhammadiyah Islamic thought.
